September Hase

Barefoot Southern boys and honest rock and roll seem to be a tradition in the history of Georgia music. And it seems that the players of September Hase have stomped their way through all three with their own young guns-in-old souls’ sound. It’s no surprise they tend to kick their shoes off when they are feeling the heat on stage. Or that their original songs invoke your gut like real music used to. Or that they made Alan Walden, a veteran music publisher and 2003 Georgia Music Hall of Fame inductee, shed real deal tears the first time he heard them. But for the boys in the band, they are just doing what they believe in...what keeps them up at night...what drives them to work harder every day. They just want to be artists. And it’s working.

Based out of Nashville, Tn., the early days of the band were inspired by the likes of the Allman Brothers Band and Led Zeppelin. September Hase has gradually evolved into a funk, rock, jazz-infused sound, influenced by everything from Incubus and Soundgarden to Phish and Project Z; performing a variety of music spanning anything from rap to reggae hits, with some of them being written before members of the band were even born.

September Hase’s energy and enthusiasm is evident in their buring guitar riffs and solo's, edgy bass and rousing three-way harmonies. Already, September Hase is finding success with their original songs “Watch Me (Break Away)” and “Chase the Sun,” which were both requested hits on homegrown radio shows across the Southeast. “Chase the Sun” earned them national exposure and a Top 20 slot on the Fox Network television show “The Next Great American Band.” Most recently, September Hase ventured into the Southern Tracks Recording studio with renowned producer Rodney Mills to produce a six-song EP, which includes five originals and a cover of Bill Withers’ “Use Me Up.” The band got its start when another band ran its course.

Following the break up of their high school jazz band in 2005, Al Janelle enlisted two of his former jazz mates to continue performing with him in a new band, Blackbird. The band continues to regularly rehearse, write songs and perform at music venues and festivals throughout the Southeast.

September Hase is Al Janelle on lead guitar/vocals, Adam Smith on bass/vocals, Matthew Heller on drums, and Chris Norton on keys/vocals.
